I would be lying if I said appearance doesn't matter to me... but it's the entire package not just the wrapping. Surely this matters to you as well?
By your own admission, "all men are visual", you confess to being shallow suggesting that all women should submit a picture with their posts. Why not men too? Moreover, I think a lot of us have met people who were quite attractive but dull, egotistical, and shallow. I have personally sat across the table from some very handsome men where I had to repeatedly suppress a yawn and feign interest while they would ramble on ad nauseum about themselves, rarely asking a question, or engaging in dialogue. Then they would act indignant and surprised when I refused a second date. Ha! Thank goodness I often select the restaurant so at the very least I can always enjoy the food and a wonderful Merlot. So all is not lost! ;)
On the other hand, just recently I have had the pleasure of sitting across from a rather non-descript gentleman who over the course of the evening seemed to grow more attractive by the minute. He was bright, articulate, confident, interesting, and yes, engaging..... he asked questions and seemed geniunely interested in what I had to say. How refreshing! It was a dialogue not a monologue. He did not go on about his ex-wife or girlfriend nor did he lament about his life. NOTHING negative. The food and wine were of little interest to me as he had my complete undivided attention.
And when he asked for that second date, I said "yes."
