I am thinking of going to Montreal to work from there for a year or more (to avoid paying tax here on my earnings), and would be interested in swapping my comfortable, quiet 1 bed, 15 mins from the city and near all mod cons etc for a nice Apt, in or close to down-town Montreal.

Rents here typically go for 900 Euro, so I would be looking for value, obviously :), but my priorities (after comfortable, clean etc) would be a place close to the metro/parking, with space for a small office.
