If you have fleas in your household you would have bites on you. Other things to check in on are....... possible detergent, fabric softeners etc.... or any kind of things like that - that the Cats maybe sensitive to. Also foods are a big one..... just like people our pets can be sensitive to things in there foods....... Grains are a big one.... Corn, Wheat, soy etc......

With the buggie type creatures I have had gread luck with debittered yeast pills. I have been doing this for around 20 years with all my cats & they have never gotten fleas. The yeast is also good for their health. It is suppose to send off a smell with the pets body that fleas do not like. I use one a day for a 11lb cat. You can get a cheap container at any drugstore. They do sell them now at pet stores - but they usually are more expensive there - might have gotten cheaper.
