Insurance Group Benefits – Proposal writer
Permanent full-time position, 37.5 hours/per week

Role summary:
The Senior Proposal Specialist is accountable for the preparation and completion of complex Group Benefits Corporate and National sales proposals.
This role assists in the definition of best practices and implementing across Business Development and reports to the Proposal Manager Business Development.
Main Accountabilities:
• Accountable for the preparation and completion of complex Group Benefits proposals with quality and in a timely basis in accordance with stated service standards
• Creates or assists in developing Executive Summaries that build the value proposition
• Creates a repository of proposals to leverage and an inventory of Executive Summaries
• Work with the appropriate business unit/resources to respond to complex questionnaire questions
• Accountable for forming partnerships and good working relationships with Account Executives and Business Development Leadership team to ensure an effective process when completing proposals
• Ensure tracking and proper management of the proposal process for each case being worked on to be able to share progress to completion.
• Achieve results against quality and productivity targets and service standards
• In order to track progress, complete data entry in multiple systems for all incoming proposals
• Takes ownership for consistently meeting goals within relevant time frames
• Responsible for providing support and guidance to the more junior members of the team where needed
Competencies:
Communication Skills:
• Effective writing skills to draw the client in, tell our story and appeal to their business and ensure appropriate answers to non-standard questions, building the Executive Summary and positioning in best light
• Communicates clearly and concisely to increase understanding of the situation and relevant context
• In-depth understanding and ability to articulate Group Benefits business model
Execution Skills:
• Strong demonstrated project management experience, time management and organizational skills - ability to manage multiple priorities for multiple projects
• Manage strategy meetings and all subsequent tasks to deliver on complex proposals
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Self-starter and results oriented
Assets:
• Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and Lotus Notes
• Experience with design and build of flash presentations
• Experience with graphic design
• Proficient level of knowledge of GB products and distribution mechanisms, customers and market segments, organization structure and sales process specific to GB
Other Notes:
Chosen candidate must hold a driving license as some work will be done off location occasionally.
