Support group? Yes, definitely. But instead of sitting around ONLY yapping about it all, this is a new approach, which I know will be beneficial for all.
Have you ever felt the need to have someone there with you while you do something you feel you want to do to improve and possibly stabilize your life? And at the same time, so many unipolars that you know would be there, but not completely empathetic or truly “there,” making the task at hand feel redundant and you feel more like just telling them to forget it.
Well, my idea is, as bipolars, we help each other, mutually, kind of as a trade-off. For example, I want to complete an Art project, but I am too depressed or I can’t focus or would rather do something destructive. You would come over to help me focus and get the job done; I’m feeling less alone and definitely like you understand because we are both having the same problems. Then, say you need to get more active physically, but you just can’t move today or feel too wired and afraid. I will come with you and do something active like jogging, badminton, dancing, anything you need to do, I will be there with you as you were with me. The bipolar trade-off!
We will have weekly get-togethers and a monthly pot-luck (or ideas to be discussed) to celebrate what we’ve accomplished for the month, even if it’s just getting out of bed that morning!
